Specify Active DIrectory Attributes

User Management Resource Administrator's ability to mass create and update user accounts makes it the ideal migration companion instead of traditional scripting solutions.  The flexibility offered by our visual scripting engine, but without requiring script development and maintenance, makes User Management Resource Administrator far more attractive than any migration solution on the market available today.

"Without referring to a manual or on-line help, I was able to use the program to create 599 user accounts, create home directories, and their roaming profiles with the proper security controls in minutes, a process that would have taken days to do by hand."
Jerry Shipman - St Vincent Pallotti High School

Additional Active Directory attributes

It's very common for organisations to add phone and address information into the Active Directory user object, thereby consolidating information for later use in information systems and applications.  Also, it's very popular to specify the organisation and location attributes and use the description field to store the job description.  Popular examples are:

What is the "real" attribute name for all options listed in AD Users & Computers?

  • Phone and address information: The Active Directory has pre-configured attributes to store phone and address information, located in the "Telephones" and "Address" tabs of the Active Directory Users & Computers MMC Snap-in.   Student or teacher ID: Usually being stored in the main description attribute or in the Organisation tabs of the Active Directory Users & Computers MMC Snap-in.
  • Exchange extension attributes: extensionattribute1 to extensionattribute15, only available when Exchange 2000 or 2003 has been installed and integrated with the Active Directory.  Requires the "ms-Exch-Custom_Attributes" metabase extension.  These attributes are available for custom use and are popular for application-specific data storage.
  • Job description: from address book: Usually being stored in the main description attribute or in the Organisation tabs of the Active Directory Users & Computers MMC Snap-in.
  • Department & office location: This information is stored in the Organisation tabs of the Active Directory.
