Set Terminal Services Settings

User Management Resource Administrator's ability to mass create and update user accounts makes it the ideal migration companion instead of traditional scripting solutions.  The flexibility offered by our visual scripting engine, but without requiring script development and maintenance, makes User Management Resource Administrator far more attractive than any migration solution on the market available today.

"Without referring to a manual or on-line help, I was able to use the program to create 599 user accounts, create home directories, and their roaming profiles with the proper security controls in minutes, a process that would have taken days to do by hand."
Jerry Shipman - St Vincent Pallotti High School

Terminal Services details

In an environment using Terminal Server or Citrix, Active Directory user accounts require a few additional settings for correct operation, such as settings for the additional TS profile and home directory, and several specific settings such as connection preferences and timout settings.

  • Profile path: The Terminal Services Profile path.  The profile is a roaming or mandatory user profile for use when the user logs on to a Terminal server.  Using this setting you can specify both roaming and mandatory profiles.
  • Home directory: The Terminal Services home directory.  Each user on a Terminal server should have a unique home directory to ensure that application information is stored separately for each user in a multi-user environment.
  • Home directory drive: The Terminal Services home directory drive, as used for client drive mappings in the Windows explorer.
  • Allow logon to Terminal Server: Specifies whether the user is permitted to log on to the Terminal server.
  • End disconnected session (seconds): Sets the maximum time that a disconnected session remains active on the service.
  • Active session limit (seconds): Sets the maximum duration for sessions in seconds.
  • Idle session limit (seconds): Sets the maximum idle time in seconds allowed before the session is disconnected or reset.
  • Disconnect on connection broken - time-out: Disconnect the client when the connection to the server is broken for any reason, including a request, connection or session limit breach.
  • Allow reconnection from any client: Specified that Terminal Services allows reconnection to a disconnected session from any computer.  This option is supported only for Citrix ICA-based clients that provide a serial number when connecting.
  • User can specify initial program: Specified whether the user can start any program.
  • Logon program: The path and file name of the application that you want to start when the user logs on to the Terminal server.
  • Logon program working directory: The working directory for the application you have configured to start on the Terminal server.
  • Connect client drives at logon: Optional for Citrix ICA-based clients only, specified whether to automatically reconnect to mapped client drives.
  • Connect client printers at logon: Specifies whether to automatically reconnect to mapped client printers.
  • Default to main client printer: Specifies whether to automatically print to the client's default printer.
  • Remote control: Specifies the level to control or observe a user's session.  Leaving this value blank will result in remote control functionality being disabled.
  • Callback enabled: Specifies whether the Terminal Server callback function is enabled.
  • Fixed callback phone number: Enable this property if you want Terminal Server to callback using a default fixed phone number.
  • Callback phone number: Specifies the default Terminal Server callback number.  Works in combination with the fixed callback phone number attribute.
