Corporate History
PNL Tools was incorporated as a UK Limited Company in December 2002, spun off from Professional Networks Limited, which was an established IT consultancy incorporated in October 1994.
www.pnltools.com was the website URL for the software resale division of Professional Networks Limited, and it was decided the new venture would inherit this URL and in turn become the company name.
Professional Networks operated historically as a Novell Netware and later a Windows NT consultancy. In 1996 a customer software requirement for a utility to restrict user disk space on an NT3.51 server led them to diversify and begin reselling IT Management solutions.
For 6 years Professional Networks grew the consultancy and software reselling business. The consultancy business managed large infrastructure projects including Mercedes Benz, Egg, British American Tobacco and HM Customs and Excise. The software resale business also grew, closing larger deals, signing additional vendor partners and embracing a larger range of IT Management and Security Solutions.
In December 2002, the software resale business was spun off from Professional Networks, and a new subsidiary company was formed - PNLTools Limited. Neil Burton and James Cooper, existing employees of Professional Networks were invited to invest in the venture and became Managing Director and Sales Director respectively. PNL Tools went on to experience impressive growth in revenue and product portfolio, providing a choice of approaching 100 IT solutions and representing several key software developers in the UK, Europe and USA.
In 2011, PNL Tools purchased back the shareholding of Professional Networks Limited, so is no longer connected to that company, but maintains a good relationship with the former Directors of Professional Networks Limited.
